When prohibition was lifted in Ephraim last summer, some clearly feared the quiet village would be overrun by rabble rousers, reprobates, people of low character…yes, fellow citizens of River City, people from…away. The reality was much more sedate, of course, as existing restaurants simply added beer and wine lists to their menu. Trixie's is the first totally new establishment in Ephraim to open as result of the newly issued beer and wine licenses. Tucked into the heart of Ephraim, behind the village hall, Trixie's offers an interesting, changing wine list, craft beers and small plate dishes from her big, successful brother, Wickman House in Ellison Bay. Matthew Chambas is executive chef at both Wickman and Trixie's.
