FISH CREEK, WI (January 6, 2016) – The well-known folksinger Johnsmith will be featured in concert at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek on Wednesday, January 13. Tickets for the 8 p.m. concert are $17 each.
Wisconsin-based singer-songwriter Johnsmith describes himself as a Bard. “The role of the Bard in every society is to hold up a mirror to that society," Johnsmith said recently, "to convey and reveal — through the mysterious alchemy of music and words and performance — the secret inner language of the heart, delivered with that ineffable feeling called 'soul.' Critics have described his song lyrics as "…finely shaped and powerfully moving, voiced with a spirit and soulfulness.” Johnsmith last performed in the White Gull house concert series in 2014.
Featured with Johnsmith will be his long-time musical collaborator, guitarist and singer Dan Sebranek. Dan Sebranek has been playing music since he started playing the banjo with his brother at the age of 10. He also picked up his dad's guitar and learned rock and roll, and at age fifteen, joined a high school rock band. He eventually added the acoustic guitar to his repertoire and began traveling the country, spending three years on the road with Bill Miller. For years, Dan was half of Runaway, the acoustic duo that includes Johnsmith. These days, when he is not playing and singing in his own bluegrass band, the String Ties, you can find Dan playing rock and roll with his high school friends, or in concert with Johnsmith.
The White Gull Inn will serve an optional pre-concert fixed price dinner at 6 p.m. The menu consists of Chicken Enchiladas, Mexican rice, refried beans, garnish of guacamole; chips with homemade salsa, and flan for dessert.
