FISH CREEK, WI (March 14, 2016) – Northern Sky Theater is pleased to announce that it has received a matching grant of $11,500 from the Wisconsin Arts Board. Northern Sky Theater Receives Grant from Wisconsin Arts Board
State grants are awarded through a competitive process. This grant indicates that Northern Sky provides a high level of quality in its programs, community outreach and administration.
"Northern Sky's artistic mission is to create a body of regionally relevant work unparalleled by any other troupe, while simultaneously advancing the craft of the American musical," stated Artistic Director, Jeffery Herbst. "At the same time, Northern Sky is dedicated to presenting shows at affordable ticket prices, ensuring that tens of thousands of families can continue to enjoy original, regionally themed musicals for years to come."
"Without the support of the Wisconsin Arts Board, this mission simply would not be possible," stated Managing Director, Dave Maier. "One workshop alone can exceed $10,000 in expenses for housing, travel, rentals, and artist compensation."
Wisconsin Arts Board grants are awarded on a matching basis. Organizations that receive Arts Board funds are required to match state tax dollars with additional public and private funds. The Wisconsin Arts Board is the state agency that nurtures creativity, cultivates expression, promotes the arts, supports the arts in education, stimulates community and economic development and serves as a resource for people of every culture and heritage in Wisconsin's communities.
The company's fall season, performance schedule and casting will be announced in April 2016.
Tickets for both the summer and fall season will go on sale April 1st in the Northern Sky box office at the Green Gables shops in north Ephraim, via phone at 920.854.6117, and online at www.NorthernSkyTheater.com.
