Upcoming Programs at The Ridges
High Bush Cranberries

BAILEYS HARBOR, WI (March 24, 2016) – Spring is here!  Shake off the winter doldrums and join a Ridges naturalist on April 3 at 2 PM for a guided hike through the varied landscape of Appel’s Bluff.

Recently acquired by The Ridges, this 67-acre tract features dense lowland cedar forest with ephemeral ponds and wetlands in the southern portion and upland forests of maple and birch in the middle. This diversity provides opportunities to see a variety of habitats during a moderately easy hike. Wear good hiking boots.  Hike fees are $5 for Ridges members and $8 for the general public. Children under 18 hike free.

Reflections on The Ridges, an art & lecture series, brings together a diverse group of artists and presenters under a common theme:  the natural beauty of The Ridges. The winter series comes to a close in April with a month-long exhibit featuring the stunning nature photography of Douglas Sherman.  Sherman has been a professional photographer since 1988. His images of flowers and landscapes have been published by the Sierra Club, Arizona Highways, Audubon and many others.  His latest book, The Ridges: An Intimate View will be released this spring. Meet the artist at a wine and cheese reception at the Cook-Fuller Center on April 7, 4 – 6:30pm, followed by a program on Sandhill Cranes in Door County presented by Ridges Land Manager Brian Forest at 7pm. Reflections on The Ridges is free and open to the public.

Programs and activities meet at The Cook-Fuller Nature Center, 8166 Hwy 57 in Baileys Harbor. For more information or to register, visit www.RidgesSanctuary.org or call 929.839.2802.
