FISH CREEK, WI (March 28, 2016) — The acclaimed Nashville-based duo 10 String Symphony will perform at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek on Wednesday, April 6. Tickets for the 8pm concert, the last of six in the Inn’s 2015-2016 winter concert series, are $17.
10 String Symphony consists of Rachel Baiman (fiddle, banjo, vocals) and Christian Sedelmyer (mandolin, fiddle, vocals). The Symphony began as a partnership of mutual admiration, a creative release valve for Baiman and Sedelmyer, both accomplished five-string fiddle players and veteran sidemen in Nashville’s music scene.
Baiman is a former Illinois State Fiddle Champion in the old time tradition, while Christian, originally a classically-trained violinist, is also a current touring member of the Jerry Douglas Band.
With the love of the 5-string fiddle and its musical possibilities as its focal point, the band’s mission statement is as clear as it is expansive: Two fiddles. Two Voices. Epic music. ALL THINGS MUSIC has described the band’s’ sound as a “new take on old ideas,” a concept and tension that the duo continues to explore throughout its about-to-be-released second recording, "Weight of the World."
An optional fixed price dinner will be served at 6 pm, before the concert. The menu consists of Chicken Marsala over linguine, garlic focaccia, a tossed green salad, and dessert. Tickets, reservations for the pre-concert dinner and information can be obtained by calling the Inn at 920.868.3517.
