Sturgeon Bay Named #3 in America's Happiest Seaside Towns Contest

STURGEON BAY, WI (April 15, 2016) – The sparkling waters of Green Bay, combined with the historic maritime waterfront, and relaxed quality of life helped Sturgeon Bay reach number 3 in an online contest for the Top 10 Happiest Seaside Towns in America. Bested only by Stuart, Florida and Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Sturgeon Bay’s inland seaside designation confirms what residents and visitors know and experience daily – that living in Sturgeon Bay helps make for a happy life.

2016 marked the fifth annual contest, hosted by Coastal Living Magazine. More than 170,000 votes were cast in the contest, pitting Sturgeon Bay against the likes of Hilo, HI, Hermosa Beach, CA and Seaside, OR. The full list will be featured in the May issue of Coastal Living, on newsstands April 15. To choose the 2016 finalists for America’s Happiest Seaside Towns, Coastal Living editors reviewed more than 300 destinations that have been lauded in the past as Coastal Living Dream Towns or were nominated via social media. Coastal Living then collected each town’s rank on the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, percentage of sunny days, air quality, healthiness of beaches, commute times, crime ratings, walkability, standard of living and financial well-being of the locals, geographic diversity, and Coastal Living editors’ assessment of each town’s “coastal vibe.” A proprietary formula yielded the Coastal Living Top Ten America's Happiest Seaside Towns list of finalists. The ranking was then determined by online voting.

Many, many thanks to everyone who took the time to vote for Sturgeon Bay in the contest! Your votes helped Sturgeon Bay gain more national recognition as a happy place to live and visit. #ComefortheFun, #StayfortheMemories
