STURGEON BAY, WI (July 26, 2016) – Calling all pirates, skallywags, and landlubbers! Shine up your boots, put on your eye patch and sail down to Maritime on Madison street festival, August 13, from 11am-5pm.
Stroll the decks along Madison Avenue from Maple to Oak Streets, jigging and swinging to music by Whiskey Ditch and Glas Hamr (stage at the intersection of Madison and Oak).
Test your luck in the raffle for treasure, and buy yourself some swag at the exclusive in-store specials and sales of the Madison Avenue shops! Artists and crafters will be selling their wares along the decks, too.
Bring the lads and lasses (kids for you landlubbers) — there’s plenty to see and do! Hunt around in the pirate scavenger hunt – find a map at Bay Shore Outfitters (27 S. Madison Ave). Finish the hunt by collecting pieces of a pirate costume at the various landmarks. After you’re dressed like a pirate, bounce off some energy in the bounce houses, make your mark on the monster mural, and hang out with real pirates during a special appearance by the Pirates of the Harbour. Kick up your boots and rest, relax, and recharge with a wide selection of food and cold beer and drinks.
Polish up your boat, untangle the holiday lights, and shake out your best costumes – it’s time for the annual Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club Venetian Night Boat Parade! Have some fun and decorate your 16’ or longer boat(s) for the parade. Register for the parade by 7pm at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club (SBYC), 600 Nautical Drive, Sturgeon Bay. Registration is FREE, membership to SBYC not necessary! The theme for 2016 is Maritime, so feel free to be creative. Parade line up begins in front of Roen Salvage/Bay Marine. Boats motor from there, past the SBYC, past SkipperBuds, then circle and go past CenterPointe and back to Bay Marine, two to three laps. Finish the parade by docking at the SBYC for awards. The two most creatively decorated boats win prizes.
Fireworks complete the maritime celebration over the Sturgeon Bay Canal at 9:30pm. Viewing is great from boats, also from the Door County Maritime Museum.
