EPHRAIM, WI (August 2, 2016) – Fine Line Designs Gallery is excited to host New York City-based jewelry artist Emilie Shapiro for a trunk show on Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7. Shapiro will be at the gallery from 10am-5pm both days, showing her unique metal and gemstone jewelry.
Shapiro grew up on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, and water has always been a constant in her life and a huge inspiration. Coming from a long time of creative entrepreneurs, inventors, and free spirits who encouraged her to explore many different mediums throughout her artistic life, Shapiro now concentrates on the ancient craft of lost wax casting, which dates back to the Egyptians.
Sculptural pieces are carved into hard wax and casted into metal, and rough gemstones are incorporated into Shapiro’s work as a celebration of the beauty of natural imperfection. All jewelry production and resources are kept as local as possible, and every piece is handmade in Shapiro’s New York City studio.
Shapiro’s jewelry line, Emilie Shapiro Contemporary Metals, is sold at museum shops, galleries, and shops in the United States and beyond, including Uncommon Goods, Sundance, Anthropologie, and the American Museum of Natural Art. “Emilie’s jewelry has a loyal following, and her designs are rugged, yet delicate and beautiful,” says Fine Line Designs Gallery owner Shari Gransee. “We’re thrilled to have a large body of her work for this two-day trunk show, and we’re excited to have so many of her unique pieces in one place.
