Hidden Brook Boardwalk Dedication on September 1

BAILEYS HARBOR, WI (August 18, 2016) – On Thursday, September 1st The Ridges will hold a dedication ceremony for the Hidden Brook Boardwalk. A donation provided by Marsha Ernst Krueger of Mequon in 2015 allowed a talented and dedicated group of volunteers to build an eight-foot wide, 1,800 foot-long boardwalk through The Ridges Sanctuary. The project began in September 2015 and the volunteer crew, in collaboration with Eric Peil of Peil Construction, will be able to complete the structure in the coming weeks.

“As plans to build the Cook-Albert Fuller Center came together, it became clear that we would need to connect the new center to the original Sanctuary trail loop. Understanding that The Ridges is available to all who visit, we knew a universally accessible boardwalk was a must,” said Steve Leonard, Executive Director. “With Marsha’s gift, over 2,000 dedicated volunteer hours and the expertise of Eric Peil and his crew, we have made The Ridges accessible to all.”

The dedication will be held at 10:00am at the Cook-Albert Fuller Center in Baileys Harbor. The boardwalk is open daily from sunrise to sunset. A $5.00 per adult trail fee gains you accesses to the boardwalk, other Ridges trails, and a tour of the historic Upper Range Light.

The Ridges Sanctuary Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation. For more information on this event and other programs at The Ridges, visit RidgesSanctuary.org or call 920839.2802.
