FISH CREEK, WI (September 14, 2016) – The Gibraltar baseball and football team's are holding a benefit for one of our injured teammates and his family. Sten Kordon was in a very bad boating/tubing accident and he is, as the doctors put it, a miracle to still be alive. Sten is a sophomore at Gibraltar High School and is full of life. He is a great kid and comes from a great family. Sten has a long way to go and his parents will be there right by his side every step of the way. But they do need our help as their medical bills are adding up really fast.Bruce Alexander, owner of Alexander's of Door County restaurant, has been gracious enough to give his restaurant for the night. There will be a Whitefish Fry with all proceeds going to Sten Kordon and the Kordon Family. Charlie Henriksen, the Weborgs, and Jim Laughlin have donated all the whitefish for this event, as they have multiple times in the past for the baseball fundraisers. All other food will be donated for this event as well.
The event will be held on Wednesday, September 28 at Alexander's of Door County, located on Hwy 42 in Fish Creek. Chef Bruce will be making several different options available. It will be a huge event! Gibraltar school bus driver Dick Burress will be running a continuous shuttle from Gibraltar School to Alexander's and back for extra parking. There will also be a silent auction and money/message tree. Bridenhagan Landscaping is generously donating the tree.
The Gibraltar baseball and football teams would love to have the best silent auction for this event. If your business could contribute a door prize for the silent auction, it would be greatly appreciated and a big help! The volunteers from Bargains Unlimited (where Kristine Kordon works) are willing to pick up any door prizes. Additionally, you can drop them off at the Piggly Wiggly in Sister Bay or at Baileys Grove Campground in Baileys Harbor. If you have a door prize for us and need it picked up, please email Jay Kita at firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 920-559-2381. If we could have all door prizes by September 25, it would be greatly appreciated.
Please keep Sten, Peter, Kristine, and Jon Kordon in in your thoughts and in your prayers. They do have a long way to go yet but they are a very, very strong family.
