Fish Creek Civic Association Helps Gibraltar 7th & 8th Graders Raise Funds for Class Trip to Washington D.C.
As a community-minded organization, the Fish Creek Civic Association (FCCA) works hard to make Fish Creek's events as beneficial to the Door County community as possible.
This year, the kid's games in the Gibraltar Old Town Hall at Jack O'Lantern Days, Fish Creek's "hometown Halloween" celebration, were staffed by Gibraltar middle schoolers. They were fundraising for their class trip to Washington D.C. and raised a total of $780 in exchange for their efforts.
Zombie Bowling, Pumpkin Putt-Putt, 'Spooky' Pumpkin Can-Toss and Witch's Hat Ring-Toss were just a few of the "spooktacular" kid's games the middle schoolers helped with in exchange for a $500 contribution from the FCCA. The additional funds were raised from donations and a bake sale.
Other highlights from Fish Creek's Jack O'Lantern Days were:
- Silly Fortunes by "Madame Bumba" (AKA: Kathleen Harris)
- In-town trick-or-treating
- Open house at the Gibraltar Fire Station
- Mask making at the Peninsula School of Art
- A festive costume parade and contest
Jack O'Lantern Days' sole purpose is to give back to the Door County and Fish Creek communities. Thank you to all visitors, residents and business owners who participated in this year's celebration and also to the FCCA Member Businesses who sponsored the event: AppleCreek Resort Hotel & Suites, Blue Horse Beach Cafe, Fish Creek B.P., Founder's Square, Fun Stuff, Hide Side Corner Store, Lautenbach's Orchard Country, On Deck Clothing Company, Parkwood Lodge and Thorp House Inn and Cottages.
