Birch Creek Music Performance Centers will celebrate the opening night of its 42nd season on Thursday, June 22nd, with “Percussive Panoply I: A Faculty Showcase.” The event will commence Birch Creek’s four-session concert season, starting with seven concerts of Percussion & Steel Band over the course of two weeks. Dan Moore, Professor of Percussion at University of Iowa will be returning for his 19th season, and his second year as the program director for the Percussion & Steel Band session.
“The Percussive Panoply is a unique opportunity to hear our Birch Creek percussion faculty performing the music that is most meaningful to them,” Dr. Moore commented. “It gives them the chance to highlight their individual areas of expertise in an eclectic program of music.”
Percussion & Steel Band concerts at Birch Creek often feature a wide array of musical styles, including Caribbean steel pan, world percussion, rearrangements of popular contemporary pieces, and much more.
