After parallel parking on historic 3rd Avenue in downtown Sturgeon Bay, I made a mad dash for my destination in the sudden down-pour I was caught in. Sourced, a gift shop and prop rental, was my shelter from the weather and I couldn't have been more pleased when I walked through the door. Owned by local artist, Katie Starr, Sourced is an eclectic shop filled with found, restyled, and handmade items for yourself and your home made by local artists, including Katie herself.
Katie greeted me and showed me around the beautiful shop. Sourced, previously Greco Gallery (now Avenson Photography), opened in June 2015. It features a handful of full-time artists (including Katie) who all help run the shop. Sourced also features several artists on consignment, as well a fabulous selection of photography props available for rental. Greco Gallery now operates in the space above Sourced as Avenson Photography, by owner Kelly Avenson. Many of the same artists who were featured at Greco Gallery are now featured at Sourced!Sourced full-time artists include Katie (restyled home goods), Kayla Wilke (Apple Blossom Products), Helen Bacon (Helen's Botanicals), Melissa Clark (Pretty War Designs), Carol Ballje (vintage goods), Dale Kumbalek (custom guitars), and Dawn Patel (Brilliant Stranger). Consignment items include handmade clothing, jewelry, flowers, paintings, crocheted items, and so much more.
Be sure to support local Door County artists this holiday season! Sourced is packed full of gorgeous handmade gifts for everyone. Find something unique and one-of-a-kind made by a local resident. I know I'll be stopping back soon! I can't wait to spend more time examining the stunning jewelry, funky lamps, vintage clothing and accessories, and hand-lettered art.
Sourced is open year round and is located at 24 N. 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. Follow them on Facebook! 920.495.6056, katiestarr.com.
