About 75% of all flowering plant species need animal pollinators for reproduction. As a result\, pollinators contribute to ecosystem health and a sustainable food supply. Celebrate them this #pollinatorweek! \nWed.\, June 18th – Monarch Monitoring Project 1-2 pm Spend some time with the park naturalist as she explains all aspects of monitoring a monarch waystation for the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project. This citizen science program can easily be done right in your own yard. Meet at The Nature Center. Lot 1. \nFri.\, June 20th – Planting for and Protecting Pollinators – 10 – 11:30 am. It’s a time to celebrate pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them. Learn about the pollinator gardens at Newport\, along with ideas for habitat at your own house.
