SUMMARY:Public Arts Initiative - Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:The Public Arts Initiative of Egg Harbor and The Donald and Carol Kress Pavilion present a very special exhibition of paintings by local historian and folk artist Giz Herbst.  Many Door County residents and visitors know Giz Herbst for his dedicated service with the Egg Harbor Historical Society. \nHerbst\, a self-described “Soft Architectural Folk Artist\,” painted 31 Watercolors of Egg Harbor buildings in 2014\, as the village celebrated its 50th anniversary.   His “Old Friend”\, a big brown dog named Bailey\, was his constant companion while he completed his ambitious goal. \nThe exhibit features 15 of the original 31 watercolor paintings.  Bailey appears in every painting\, his constant presence reminding each viewer of the loyalty and love put into these soft and delicate renditions of our village and its architecture. \nThe exhibit will be on display at the Kress Pavilion Oct 2 – Jan 30.
