After presenting information regarding the good work being accomplished at these organizations, three nonprofits received awards on Monday, October 28, 2024.

They expressed appreciation for the impact the purchase of a new transport van, used for community outreach, has had on their programming.
Sandy Friedenfels, Executive Director and 100+WWC member, represented the Northern Door Children’s Center. Ms. Friedenfels remarked, “We are both thrilled and grateful! It means a lot to our organization knowing so many of these women understand our mission and purpose to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children from all backgrounds can grow, learn and thrive. This knowledge is priceless. Every dollar provided goes towards expanding and enhancing our facilities, allowing us to serve more children and reduce barriers for working parents. It’s an investment into the future of our children, families and the communities in which we serve.”
Donna Scattergood, 100+WWC member and nominator for Peninsula School of Art, is an enthusiastic participant in 100+WWC. “We at Pen Art are grateful for support from 100+ Women in funding our programs that focus on Creative Intergenerational Connections for Children and Families! We know that art plays a fundamental role in enhancing wellbeing – especially with respect to mental health. The support from 100+ Women will provide seed money to help us create collaborative relationships with mental health and health programs, support staff in both understanding and executing these programs, and develop the impact models and metrics to better understand the positive effects of our programs on children and families.”
Adam Erickson, Director of Peninsula School of Art, stated, “”What an honor to be invited to share Peninsula School of Art’s community wellbeing vision with 100+ Women Who Care! As we deepen our commitment to support mental health for residents of Door County through creative, intergenerational connections and pro-social programming, we are heartened by the generous 100+WWC award. The encouragement and affirmation we received from this influential group of civic leaders helps us know we’re on the right track.”
Literacy Door County (LDC), President Sally Ludwig states, “We are so grateful to 100+WWC to be awarded funds to support our programming. The funds will be used to update our curriculum to help our students and tutors better adapt to changing community needs. We believe LDC strengthens our community through providing one-on-one tutoring for basic literacy and English language learners.”
The next scheduled Giving Event will be January 27, 2025, at the Donald and Carol Kress Pavillion, in Egg Harbor. The selected nonprofits presenting information and organizational goals include Peninsula Players Theater, Climate Change Coalition of Door County, and Northern Door Pride.
