The January 2024 Giving Circle presented the largest awards yet at $30,000 for a grand total of $526,000 awarded to 54 unique nonprofits.
Door County, Wis. (February 1, 2024) – 100+ Women Who Care Door County (100+WWC) Giving Circle continues its philanthropic platform to provide financial support to nonprofits of Door County at its quarterly meetings. After presenting information regarding the good work being accomplished at these organizations, the three nonprofits received awards on Monday January 22, 2024, at the quarterly Giving Event. HELP of Door County was the recipient of the Main Award of $15,000, while the Runner Up Awards of $7,500 each were given to Money Management Counselors and Liberty Grove Historical Society. The total monetary award granted at the Monday evening event was the highest to date at $30,000.
HELP of Door County Co-Interim Director, Moriah Turk, explained, “The 100+WWC award will go directly to the needs of our clients. HELP of Door County provides a service that helps so many people in our community break free from the cycles of violence. I am passionate about HELP’s work because of its impact on a survivor’s life. Without our services, hundreds of people would be facing the hardships of domestic violence alone. The 100+WWC event was a wonderful experience; everyone was welcoming and supportive.”
The Liberty Grove Historical Society Vice-President of the Board of Directors, Chery Culvers, expressed, “From a very young age, I’ve found myself interested in elders and items and stories from the past. I believe cultural heritage is important to identity and it allows us to learn positive life lessons from the trials and tribulations of others. Local historical societies are an important shared community resource. They provide an essential service by educating, preserving, and curating collections for future generations.”
Money Management Counselors , nominated by 100+WWC member Ann Glessner, conveyed “I love being a part of the 100+WWC Door County. In addition to the nonprofit’s monetary benefits, it’s such a great platform for organizations like Money Management Counselors to raise awareness about their mission and why their services are needed in Door County. I learn more about our beloved community with every 100+WWC meeting and nonprofit presentation. I am so grateful to be part of this amazing group of women coming together to help make a difference in our community.”
On April 22, 2024, at the next scheduled Giving Event, the nonprofits presenting information regarding its organizational goals include Door Shakespeare, The Ridges Sanctuary, and Birch Creek Music Performance Center. These nonprofits were drawn from a hat that was populated with member-nominated, vetted, and qualified nonprofits that meet the 100+WWC mission. The nominating member and the nonprofit representative will present and answer questions at the April meeting prior to the members voting to determine the main award recipient. The best part of this process is that all three nonprofit presenters leave the evening with an award to support its goals. The April Giving Event will be held at the Kress Pavilion, 7845 Church Street, Egg Harbor and will also be available for viewing via LiveStream for those who cannot attend in person.
