More than $679,000 awarded to 65 unique nonprofits since July 2018.
Door County, Wis. (February 5, 2025) – 100+ Women Who Care Door County (100+WWC) Giving Circle continues its philanthropic platform to provide financial support to nonprofits of Door County at its 27th quarterly Giving Event. After presenting information regarding the good work being accomplished at these organizations, three nonprofits received awards on Monday, January 27, 2025.
The total monetary award granted at the Giving Event was approximately $32,000 from 400 members. Climate Change Coalition of Door County (CCCDC) was the recipient of the Main Award of approximately $16,000 plus the opportunity to apply for a $5,000 matching grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation. The Secondary Awards of approximately $8,000 each were given to Peninsula Players Theatre and Northern Door Pride. Lakeshore CAP Food Pantry was the returning nonprofit. They expressed appreciation for the impact the October 2023 award had on their community work.
Jeff Lutsey, Executive Director, CCCDC remarked, “With the 100+ Women Who Care award, we will expand our Junior Climate Stewards Arts Lab Program, empowering the next generation to connect with nature, express their voices through art, and take meaningful climate action. Partnering with The Ridges Sanctuary, Gibraltar School, and Peninsula Art School, we blend creativity with environmental stewardship, equipping young people with the tools to care for the planet and inspire lasting change.”
Jess Reinke, Communications Manager, CCCDC added, “The 100+WWC generosity and commitment to the community reaffirm that local action is powerful. We’re honored to receive this award. It was so incredibly cool to see that philanthropy and fundraising for projects can be REALLY FUN!”
Danielle Szmanda, Development Director at Peninsula Players Theatre responded to questions, “It is truly an honor and privilege to work for Peninsula Players Theatre. We are incredibly grateful for the support of the 100+ Women Who Care of Door County. This generous grant will enable us to continue to provide high-quality theatrical productions for the Door County community.”
Sara Glenn, 100+WWC member and nominator for Peninsula Players commented, “I joined 100+WWC at its inception because it seemed like a nice way to socialize while making a difference in the community. I’ve been so proud to be part of such an impactful organization. Total gifting exceeds $675,000. That’s incredible!”
Owen Alabado, President of Northern Door Pride was enthusiastic about the Door community. “Northern Door Pride is driven by creating safe space, platforms, educational opportunities, and social gatherings that bring people together to celebrate diversity and inclusion”, shared Alabado. “We want to make Door County a better place; to let people know that they have a chance to be the best version of themselves.”
The next scheduled 100+WWC Giving Event will be April 28, 2025, at the Donald and Carol Kress Pavillion, in Egg Harbor. The selected nonprofits presenting information and organizational goals include Door County Fire Chiefs Association, Door County Land Trust, and Miller Art Museum. These nonprofits were drawn from a hat that was populated with member-nominated, vetted, and qualified nonprofits. The nominating member and the nonprofit representative will present and answer questions prior to member voting.
