Volunteer ice carvers braved the chilly elements today, Saturday, February 16, 2019. Carvers began chipping, sawing, and molding ice blocks throughout Sturgeon Bay at 9am. Unique and original “ice-terpieces” were formed out of 300-pound crystal clear ice blocks. The brave group of ice carvers took to the streets of Sturgeon Bay to create spectacular works of art, with the ice carvers competing for cash prizes and the coveted People’s Choice award. Judges walked the streets of Sturgeon Bay at 2pm to decide the winning sculptures in beginner, intermediate, and advanced categories. All carvers attended the awards ceremony at 3pm at the Sturgeon Bay Visitor Center. For the second year in a row, the People’s Choice Award was awarded to Seth Wilson and John McCaulley for their unique pig on a spit ice sculpture sponsored by Madison Avenue Market. Each skill level was awarded as follows:

1. Kyle Luchsinger, wolf, sponsored by Shirts-n-Bay & More
2. Sarah Thies & Robyn Letizia, butterfly, sponsored by Monticello on Jefferson
3. Morgan VandenLangenberg & Reese Houston, bear, sponsored by Westwood Shores Waterfront Resort
