Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (November 6, 2023) – Ring in the holiday season with Destination Sturgeon Bay and the entire Sturgeon Bay community during the 2023 Christmas by the Bay Weekend presented with WBDK Christmas & Door County Daily News, November 17-19.
Come along with your friends and family and join in the fourth ‘Unwrapping Sturgeon Bay’ community car cruise on Friday, November 17. The community car cruise has a new route this year! It will begin promptly at 5:30 pm from the Door County Fairgrounds, venture left on Egg Harbor Road, proceed down Jefferson Street, turn left on 3rd Avenue, turn right on Michigan Street, take the Steel Bridge across to Madison Avenue, follow Green Bay Road and then disband at the Door County Cooperative Parking Lot. The car cruise will pass by participating businesses as they “unwrap” their storefronts for the first time this holiday season and unveil their festive displays. The public is encouraged to join Destination Sturgeon Bay at the Door County Fairgrounds between 5 pm and 5:15 pm when staff will line cars. Door County Daily News will be spreading holiday cheer with festive music and don’t forget to bring your furry friends along as Destination Sturgeon Bay will be handing out complementary pup treats too.
Following the community car cruise, join us for the Annual Tree Light Ceremony at the Old Bell Tower at Community Foundation Square on South Third Avenue. The official tree lighting ceremony will take place at 7 pm. Enjoy live music by Josh Gregory, Mike Raye, Hervy Hodges, & Paul Taylor, and warm up with hot chocolate from Door County Mobile Bar.
The fun continues Saturday, November 18 with the Christmas by the Bay parade in Sturgeon Bay starting at 10 am. Enjoy classic Christmas carols and wave to Santa & Mrs. Claus as they pass by. Parade participants will be entered in either the ‘Best Non-Profit’ or ‘Best Business’ float competitions. The parade begins at Sawyer Park via Oak Street, travels down Madison Avenue, crosses the Michigan Street bridge, proceeds down Third Avenue, and finishes at Jefferson Street. After the parade on Saturday, Santa will be at the Door County Historical Museum for a meet and greet from 11 am-1 pm, and free trolley rides will be available around Downtown Sturgeon Bay, 11 am-3 pm.
During Saturday’s events, be sure to stop by Third Avenue Playworks (TAP) for their first Winter Market of the season, 10 am to 2 pm. The market will feature a variety of different local Sturgeon Bay area vendors. TAP will be hosting five indoor markets this winter which will fall on the third Saturday of each month, November through March.
The weekend comes to a close during brunch with Santa at Stone Harbor Resort on Sunday, 9:30 am-noon. Tickets include a delicious breakfast, photos with Santa, and treats for kids. Reservations can be made at (877) 746-0700.
