Fish Creek, Wis. (December 15, 2023) – The 15th Annual Door County Short Film Fest (DCSFF) at Northern Sky’s Gould Theater in Fish Creek will take place Friday, February 16 and Saturday, February 17. This year’s festival has a specific theme for 2024: Love in Wisconsin. Many of the festival’s short films, and each of the three feature-length films, were filmed in Wisconsin or created and directed by Wisconsin filmmakers. One of the feature films is “Love and Irony,” a two-hour romantic comedy filmed in Milwaukee, and directed by John Biesack, in which an existential bike mechanic searches for an authentic life and discovers the transformative powers of love.
“Love Differently,” directed by Emma Siewert, is a one-hour documentary about a woman trying to change Wisconsin’s laws regarding adult adoptees who cannot find their birth families. “Puppy Love,” directed by Gail Gilbert, is also a one-hour documentary, and focuses on a group of women who set out to save a litter of paralyzed puppies.
Tickets for an all-weekend pass to the Door County Short Film Fest are $25. Advance tickets are available online (www.northernskytheater.com) and at Northern Sky’s Gould Theater ticket office, Monday-Friday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (tickets are also available at the office from 5:00 – 6:00 pm on Friday, February 16). On Saturday, February 17, the Northern Sky ticket office opens at noon.
At the conclusion of the festival, the 2024 Golden Mug Award will be presented by the festival’s jury to a selected film. The 2024 People’s Choice Mug Award will be presented to the film that receives the most votes from festival attendees.
