2025 Street Art: Set Sail in Sturgeon Bay

June 2, 2025 by Laurel Ciohon

Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (June 2, 2025) – Destination Sturgeon Bay is proud to bring back its highly anticipated Street Art Project, this year with a new name and fresh twist. Titled “Set Sail in Sturgeon Bay,” the 2025 installation features brand-new sculptures and is presented in partnership with Nicolet National Bank. This year is extra special as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of this beloved tradition, a vibrant collaboration of local art designed to beautify the streets and bring our community to life! We’re so excited to honor the legacy of public art in Sturgeon Bay with this milestone year.

Running throughout the summer, “Set Sail in Sturgeon Bay” invites residents and visitors alike to explore the artistic talent that thrives in our community. Each sculpture, beautifully crafted and painted, highlights the rich artistic heritage of Sturgeon Bay while celebrating the region’s deep-rooted connection to sailing, shipbuilding, and maritime traditions.

The 26 artists participating in this project had the choice to embellish, adorn, and enhance a two-sail template provided by Destination Sturgeon Bay. The sails were created by Key Industrial Plastics, and the bases were constructed by Hi-Tech Fabrication. The 2025 Street Art sails are officially up for auction on Handbid.com! Sponsored by local businesses, each piece is now on display and available for bidding until September 20, 2025, when the virtual auction will close. Proceeds will support the talented artists behind the work and help fund future public art and beautification projects in Sturgeon Bay.

Big News! We’re thrilled to announce the return of a true Sturgeon Bay classic – The Sturgeon! In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Street Art, this iconic piece is making a special comeback for a live auction during Harvest Fest on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at Martin Park. This Sturgeon was created by Calibre Boat Repair, and has been reimagined by local artist Brian Pier, whose design reflects the marine life and maritime heritage that define Sturgeon Bay. For now, the Sturgeon lives at Door County Sandbox at 1023 Egg Harbor Road. Be sure to stop by and take a look! Don’t miss your chance to own a piece of Sturgeon Bay history, join us for the live auction, September 20 at Martin Park.

“Set Sail in Sturgeon Bay” offers a fantastic opportunity for families, art enthusiasts, and tourists to engage with the city’s public art scene. Maps will be available at Destination Sturgeon Bay’s office to guide participants on a scenic tour of all the installations, creating a perfect outing to enjoy the warm weather and the arts.

Join us in celebrating the creativity of Sturgeon Bay and discover why “Set Sail in Sturgeon Bay” is one of the highlights of our cultural calendar.
