Egg Harbor, Wis. (March 4, 2022) – A new show, titled Magical Mysterious Tour, is the second annual juried online show held by Woodwalk Gallery which premiered on March 1.
Co-owner, Jillaine Seefeldt, says, “It looks to give online exposure to both amateur and professional artists and from all over the world, including Wisconsin and Door County, applied.”
This year, both 2D and 3D works were submitted. The process began in December with applications filtering through the Call for Entry service and culminates in a 2 month on line exhibit through the Woodwalk Gallery website. In addition, the 3 prize winners and the various gallery artists who applied, will be the opening feature exhibit in May and June. Prize winners were from Israel, New Jersey, Kansas and New York and most items in the exhibit are for sale directly with the artist during the on-line portion of the show.
The respected judge, Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive director of the Miller Art Museum gave her own impressions. “It was a great honor to partner with Woodwalk Gallery for this year’s online virtual exhibition, Magical Mysterious Tour! The sheer breadth of media and subject matter in submissions made this truly a difficult task, narrowing a pool of 813 amazingly diverse works, both 2 and 3-dimensional, down to just 40. During each initial stage of reviewing selections, my thoughts seemed an open-ended spiral of development as I contemplated the works en masse relative to the theme, ultimately leading me to a point of clarity and decisiveness where I was able to select a grouping of works that would be both compelling and uniquely reflective of these words: Magical. Mysterious. Tour. I was excited by those works that had an element of magic—almost fantastical on some level—and drawn to others that had a more defined mysterious appeal. Some reflect the delight of the imaginary, while others offer new perspectives of the world we live in, some reveal imagery of those we share this world with and others offer explorations of relationships and complicated realities. Ultimately, the final exhibit is reflective of a high level of craftsmanship and competency with the chosen media—the most critical elements of a successful exhibition—and offers an exciting virtual journey of the magical and mysterious. Enjoy!”
