Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (July 28, 2021) – Summer winds are guiding the beautiful boats back into Sturgeon Bay to celebrate the 30th annual Door County Classic & Wooden Boat Festival, August 14- 15. You are invited to bring your boat and crew to the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay for a weekend of fun and competition.
Own a classic (25 years or older) boat? A wooden boat or smaller craft? Show off your hand-built vessel or treasured boat, and register today to exhibit your boat, possibly win an award, and take part in the boater activities: Friday cruise and evening social, Saturday’s festival and sunset parade, and presentation of awards on Sunday. To display your boat(s), register online at: DCMM.org; or call the Museum: (920) 743-5958.
Come to watch – or join – the competition of the Sika™ Build-A-Boat Challenge! Two-person teams design and construct a boat on Saturday, add decoration and their costumes Sunday morning, and race for points Sunday afternoon. Whose creation will float? Who will tip and swim? The Sika™ Challenge building restrictions make for exciting, and often hilarious, sea trials. We only have room for 12, two-person teams – register early to build! Materials and entry fee is $20.00 per team. Register online at DCMM.org, or stop into the Museum in Sturgeon Bay to register.
Please consider volunteering some of your time to help the Maritime Museum make this event great! Help is needed Saturday or Sunday at the Boathouse Sale, with family activities, or in the concession stand. The Door County Maritime Museum is a nonprofit organization that relies on volunteers like you to help make Boat Festival successful!
With new vendors, U.S. Coast Guard demo and displays, plein air artists, classic boats, wooden boats, great food and Bloody Mary Social all going on – the second weekend in August is sure to be a great time on Sturgeon Bay’s west waterfront.
