Whether you’re a first-timer or looking for a refresher course in all things Door County, follow these tips to enjoy your trip to the fullest!
Do your research.
With so much to do and so little time, it’s important to know what exactly you want to do while you’re here, and to plan accordingly. There are several Facebook groups lead by Door County veterans who are more than happy to help you figure out all the must-stops and must-sees.
Location, location, location.
It’s ideal to reduce drive time as much as possible while you’re in the peninsula. Located in the heart of Door County, the Landmark Resort is just up the road from Egg Harbor and only a few minutes away from the water, fun attractions, and other small towns!
Take the scenic route..
We did mention reducing drive time – that’s why we recommend to avoid the congested highways during busy seasons! Back roads are not only a little quicker, but they take you through some of Door County’s hidden gems. Maybe you’ll find an unexplored trail or a delicious local restaurant!
To island or not to island.
Sometimes visitors aren’t sure whether they should make the trip to Washington Island, considering the time commitment. Always make sure to check the weather, arrive early for the ferry, and spend the day exploring! Summer is a great time to visit since the lavender fields will be in bloom.
Save a seat at the table.
Reservations are a must when it comes to dining at your favorite restaurants! Always plan ahead and figure out which places you want to eat at for dinner. Carrington’s outdoor seating is first-come, first-serve, but reservations are taken for indoor seating all year long!
