A Native Returns, Buys Log Tavern

August 6, 2019 by admin

Formerly The Tin Plate, new owners Andy and Carolyn Ripp, who purchased the business in 2018, have chose to revert the business back to its former well-known name, The Hitching Post Bar & Grill.

In their first year running the distinctive log tavern at the corner of Whitefish Bay and Glidden Drive, Andy Ripp describes the likeable menu as “good ol’ pub food.” Options include favorites like burgers, pulled pork sandwiches and wraps. Adding a few fun drinks he has up his sleeve, Andy notes the “Tizzy” and the “Twirler” will surprise libation-lovers.

Growing up in Door County, Ripp learned the restaurant trade at his father’s side in the family-owned Nightingale Supper Club in Sturgeon Bay. After graduating from Sevastopol in 1987, Ripp went on to college in Chicago and then St. Louis with wife Carolyn, returning to Door County this past fall.
