Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (November 7, 2022) – Ring in the holiday season with Destination Sturgeon Bay and the entire Sturgeon Bay community during the 2022 Unwrapping Sturgeon Bay and Christmas by the Bay Weekend presented with Cellcom, November 18-20.
Pack up your family & friends and join in the third ‘Unwrapping Sturgeon Bay’ community car parade beginning at Sawyer Park on Friday, November 18. The public is encouraged to join Destination Sturgeon Bay at Sawyer Park between 5 pm and 5:45 pm when staff will line cars up for the parade. Door County Daily News will be spreading holiday cheer with festive music, cars will be decorated with festive decor, and don’t forget to bring your furry friends along as Destination Sturgeon Bay will be handing out complementary pup treats too.
Led by the Sturgeon Bay Fire Department, Police Department, along with Santa & Mrs. Claus, the parade will pass by participating businesses as they “unwrap” their storefronts for the first time this holiday season and unveil their festive displays. Beginning promptly at 6 pm, the car parade will venture up Oak Street to Madison Avenue, continuing right on Madison Avenue and over the Michigan Street Bridge. Parade participants will advance down Third Avenue, to Jefferson Street where they will take a right on Fourth Avenue, past Nicolet National Bank, and will end at Sturgeon Bay City Hall. Participants are encouraged to park at Market Square and walk the streets of Sturgeon Bay before the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at Community Foundation Square at 8 pm.
The fun continues Saturday, November 19 with the Christmas by the Bay parade in Sturgeon Bay starting at 10 am! Enjoy classic Christmas carols and wave to Santa & Mrs. Claus as they pass by. Parade participants will be entered in either the ‘Best Non-Profit’ or ‘Best Business’ float competitions. The parade begins at Sawyer Park via Oak Street, travels down Madison Avenue, crosses the Michigan Street bridge, proceeds down Third Avenue, and finishes at Jefferson Street. Following the parade on Saturday, November 19, Santa will be at the Door County Historical Museum for a meet and greet from 11 am-1 pm, and free trolley rides will be available around Sturgeon Bay, 11 am-3 pm.
