Sister Bay, Wis. (July 3, 2023) — Door Guide Publishing, a tourism publisher in Sister Bay, WI, announced today that the cover of the company’s 2023 Door County Dining Guide publication features a photo of Green Bay Packers running back AJ Dillon and his wife Gabrielle dining at the Sturgeon Bay restaurant/event space Drömhus.
The Dining Guide has been published and distributed in Door County since 2009 and usually features a creative food photo on its cover, said Publisher John Nelson. This year’s edition also features an article/photo portfolio of the Dillons enjoying dishes from 12 of their favorite Door County restaurants.
“Our creative director, Laurel Janisse, follows AJ and Gabrielle’s Dining with the Dillons account on Instagram,” said John Nelson, “and came up with the idea of featuring them on the new Dining Guide cover. Laurel managed to get in touch with Gabrielle, and the couple said they’d love to participate in the project.”
Dining with the Dillons is a food-focused Instagram account, where the public can learn about the couples’ favorite dining spots, in-county and out-of-county. From a dive-bar’s deep-fried dishes to five-star small plates, the Dillons relate the ambience, service, and other experiences whenever and wherever they dine.
The couple selected Victoria Danielle Photography, their favorite photographer, for the cover and article shoot. Victoria Danielle also shot the Dillons’ 2022 wedding in Door County. Despite expecting their first son (delivered in May), Gabrielle was willing to endure the six-hour photo shoot this past March, Nelson said, and provided a list of the couple’s 12 favorite restaurants, all of whom are featured with the couple in the Dining Guide article: AC Tap, Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant, Alexander’s of Door County, Bayside Tavern, Boathouse on the Bay, Burton’s on the Bay, Chives, Fireside Restaurant, Island Fever, Kitty O’Reilly’s, White Gull Inn, and Wickman House.
“Our writer asked Gabrielle what their favorite dining experience has been thus far in Door County,” Nelson said, “and she immediately said “There isn’t one Door County experience or meal that sticks out, because we appreciate the uniqueness and individuality of every meal and business. The commonality is a friendly team, great food, and a personable ambience.”
