Jacksonport, Wis. (August 12, 2024) – Al Johnson’s and Open Door Bird Sanctuary team up for the 3rd year to raise funds toward new indoor bird enclosures. The spirit of support that defines the Door County Community sometimes brings birds of two different feathers together OR birds and goats. That’s the case with Sister Bay’s Al Johnson’s and Jacksonport’s Open Door Bird Sanctuary. The team at Al’s is community driven and are excited to invite ODBS back again this year. A couple of years ago, Annika Johnson and Door County Girl came to spend some time at ODBS and was hooked and admittedly, Al’s employees sneak out and do some meeting and greeting the birds too!
So come on up to meet a raptor and stay for Al’s best Swedish breakfast on Sunday August 18 from 10am-1:30pm and help raise money toward new indoor enclosures which will enable additional birds to join the ODBS team!
Have you ever wished you could see that owl hooting in the distance? Or identify that big pair of wings flying high in the sky? Now is your chance! Make the most of it by stopping out and visiting with ODBS.
Proceeds will be put toward building materials. “We provide high quality education and inspiration all over the county and beyond and funds raised here will help us to expand those opportunities and expand our raptor team. Indirectly, this will translate to our visitors and community as well. We are especially grateful for our business partners, like Al Johnson’s who is also a sponsor of our annual Hoot-e-Nanny fundraiser,” says Jillaine Seefeldt, Board Chair. “We are so grateful for their support and generosity, we are delighted to consider them a part of our team.”
