Fish Creek, Wis. (September 26, 2022) – On Sunday, October 2, at 7 p.m., Americana songwriter Shakey Graves will perform on the Door Community Auditorium (DCA) Main Stage. Babe Club will open the show.
Known for a smoky, spectral fusion of blues, folk, and rock, Shakey Graves is the stage name of Texas singer, songwriter, and guitarist Alejandro Rose-Garcia. Shakey Graves began as a one-man band of epic sonic proportions: the sound emitted from Rose-Garcia’s hollow body guitar, mildly distorted amp, and suitcase drum belying the young singer’s lean frame. He fingerpicked while keeping time with a double-pedal kick drum, hitting a snare fitted into his suitcase drum and a tambourine fashioned to its side. Now appearing with a 5-piece band, the verve and charisma of these performances have allowed the Austin-based Shakey Graves to parlay grassroots success of his homespun 2011 debut, Roll the Bones, into national visibility — he’s been going strong ever since.
NPR called Shakey Graves’s music “twangy, blues-rooted Americana that charms your socks off, the kind fit for dancing barefoot on a back porch in the southern heat.”
Opening the show will be Babe Club, a Charleston, South Carolina-based alt-rock group that Our Culture Mag says “bring together uproarious guitars, anthemic hooks, and lush synths that fit into the wider trend of ’90s revivalism while delivering tunes that are both memorable and dynamic.”
Shakey Graves’s performance is made possible with support from major sponsors Door County Pulse and The Dorr, as well as supporting sponsors The Blacksmith Inn and WPR.
