Egg Harbor, Wis. (September 11, 2025) – Door County native Sean Zak, senior writer for GOLF magazine and GOLF.com will be the Book and Author guest for a free Friends of Door County Libraries presentation at the Beach Club at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club on Thursday, September 18 at 7 pm.
In his book Searching in St. Andrews, released last year, Zak detailed his 6-month, 2022 sojourn in St. Andrews, Scotland. His visit was timed for the controversial debut of the upstart Saudi-backed LIV golf league in the country considered the birthplace of golf. Zak calls it “the most pivotal summer in the game’s history,” one he spent reporting on LIV developments along with playing the legendary Old Course, caddying for a pro at the Scottish Open and meeting a cadre of colorful characters on-the-links and off. After covering the sport for GOLF magazine for more than 10 years, he brings a breezy take and reporter’s experienced eye to the five- hundred-year-old world of golf.
Born and raised in Sturgeon Bay, Zak covered the Door County golf scene for several years for the Peninsula Pulse and Door County Living; he also spent several summers as part of the outside staff at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club where, he says, his obsession with golf began. “Golf connects you to the world and incredible experiences,” he says. He joined GOLF magazine directly on his graduation from UW-Madison.
Copies of his book will be available for sale/signing thanks to Novel Bay Booksellers. The Beach Club at Horseshoe Bay Golf Club is located at 7151 Horseshoe Bay Rd. (Highway G), adjacent to Murphy County Park, Egg Harbor. Free and open to the public.
