Egg Harbor, Wis. (May 24, 2021) – The first show, titled Beautiful Possibilities, is an extension of the juried on-line show held by Woodwalk Gallery during March and April.
Co-owner, Jillaine Seefeldt, says, “I was really excited that so many of our own artists decided to enter so I thought it would be great to feature their work along with the prize winners. As it turned out, our own Bonnie Dhein, won first place with a moving piece called, “Before the Dance”. The original online show was national call, making the first place win even more special.”
The opening reception is Sunday May 30 starting at 3pm with demos by artists Bonnie Dhein and Patt Huss. Enjoy refreshments and treats along with the lovely music of George Sawyn. Dhein and Huss will be demonstrating until 4:30pm and the reception runs through 5:30.
The respected judge, Elizabeth Meissner-Gigstead, Executive director of the Miller Art Museum gave her own impressions, “… It elicits, in my mind, a romantic notion—even visionary almost—and are words that embody optimism and strong emotion in some sense. There was incredible diversity in the 1,089 total submissions in terms of range of subject, media and interpretation of theme. My personal approach includes initially digesting the work over a period of days and contemplating the whole of the exhibit in relation to the purpose and theme in a broad sense, followed by careful review of each submission, which was ultimately narrowed down to a collection of just 40 works. Contemplating the whole of the exhibit given the sheer number of works submitted seemed at the outset a challenge, but in the end, the process provides clarity and what’s developed is a particularly strong, compelling exhibition. It showcases work exemplifying a range of Beautiful Possibilities that I felt deeply reflected a high level of craftsmanship, competency of media and creativity in approach. I hope the dialogue that is exchanged between the artist and viewer—albeit through a screen—provides a transformative experience; every work of art has a story to tell and I’m hopeful a connection can be made on some level that allows for the heart of the creator to be felt.”
In addition to a full season of fabulous fine art, the gallery is in its third year of unique farm to table dining experiences which include Asian Fusion, Hawaiian, Jamaican and Mexican cuisines.
