Birch Creek Opens 2026 Season with “Good Vibrations: Percussion Plays The 1960s”

June 1, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Egg Harbor, Wis. (June 1, 2026) – Birch Creek Music Performance Center opens its 2026 season on Thursday, June 18, with “Good Vibrations: Percussion Plays The 1960s.” This performance on the Stage of Stars launches the Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music session in the historic Dutton Concert Barn and marks the start of a summer filled with world-class performances by faculty, guest artists, and student musicians.

Opening night serves as a festive gathering of concertgoers, students, faculty, volunteers, and supporters who return each year to experience the energy and excellence of live music. The evening is the first of three summer programs, followed by the Symphony and Big Band Jazz sessions.

Now in his 28th season at Birch Creek, and eleventh as Program Director, Dan Moore, Professor of Percussion at the University of Iowa, leads a renowned faculty of professional musicians. Concertgoers can expect a dynamic blend of Caribbean steel pan, traditional and contemporary percussion, world music, jazz, and more, performed by faculty artists and advanced student musicians.

The series continues with “Americana! Percussion Goes West” on Friday, June 19, and a 3 PM matinee of “Good Vibrations: Percussion Plays The 1960s” on Saturday, June 20. Later in the session, “Americana! Percussion Goes West” will be presented on Thursday, June 25, followed by “Island to Island: The Steel Pan Artistry of Victor Provost” on Friday, June 26, with 3 PM and 7 PM performances. Internationally acclaimed steel pan virtuoso Victor Provost, the session’s featured guest artist, will be showcased in both Friday performances and again on Saturday, June 27, during the closing night concert, “Americana Vibrations: Percussion Closing Concert With Special Guest Victor Provost.”

Concerts begin at 7 PM unless noted otherwise. Pre-concert music begins 30 minutes prior to each performance in the Kane Gazebo courtyard. Tickets are available online at BirchCreek.org/Tickets or by phone at (920) 868-3763.
