Blessing of the Fleet

May 22, 2019 by Laurel Ciohon

Blessing of the Fleet pays tribute to both past and present fishing and maritime industries in Baileys Harbor. Festivities begin on Saturday, June 1! Bring your personal boat in the morning to receive the Blessing Ceremony at 11am. Participate or be a spectator of the Launch & Paddle Race, new this year. The race launches at Harbor View park. The fearless competitors will paddle to the marina pier. Enter as doubles or individuals on a self propelling vessel of choice (canoe, SUP, kayak).

No vessel, no problem! Lakeshore Adventures will be providing kayaks for use as needed. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest and the best dressed. Commercial and Charter fishing boats will be docked at the marina until 3pm open for touring and meet & greets with the captains. Don’t miss live music by Dirty Deuce, food & drinks, and the arts & crafts fair.

Saturday night enjoy locally sourced whitefish at one of the participating restaurants for the Lake to Table Culinary Event: Top Deck at Gordon Lodge, Chives Restaurant, Harbor Fish Market & Grille, Baileys Harbor Cornerstone Pub, Thyme Cuisine and Heirloom Cafe & Provisions. Sunday brings the Farm Market on the Town Hall Lawn from 9am-1pm.
