Calling all artists! Destination Sturgeon Bay is looking for artists to embellish or create their own cherry for their new street art program, Cherries Jubilee – Celebrating 20 Years of Sturgeon Bay Public Art. Presented by Destination Sturgeon Bay and Associated Bank, cherries will be blossoming throughout Sturgeon Bay starting May 2020. Artists are encouraged to apply for this unique collaboration of art and community in order to beautify the streets of Sturgeon Bay.
By creating a cherry, artists have the choice to embellish, adorn, and enhance one cherry provided by Destination Sturgeon Bay, created by Key Industrial Plastics and Hi-Tech Fabrication. All cherries will be sponsored by local businesses and will be on display throughout the streets of Sturgeon Bay beginning May 11, 2020. The cherries will remain on display until Saturday, September 19, 2020 when all cherries will be available at the live auction in Martin Park following Harvest Fest. Auction proceeds benefit the artists and future street beautification projects.
The Cherries Jubilee Street Art Program provide artists the opportunity to showcase their artistic talent and creative capability to both the thousands of Door County community and tourists alike during the summer season. Let your creative side shine and challenge yourself to create breathtaking street art. If you would like a chance to embellish a cherry provided by Destination Sturgeon Bay, or create one of your own, please contact the Destination Sturgeon Bay at (920) 743-6246 or email carly@sturgeonbay.net. The application deadline is January 11, 2019. The Cherries Jubilee Street Art Program application can also be found online at SturgeonBay.net.
