Band’s Main Musical Influence is Gypsy Jazz Guitarist Django Reinhardt
Fish Creek, Wis. (June 11, 2023) – The third concert in the 2023 Fishstock Concert Series will feature Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble this coming Sunday, July 16. The ensemble has performed to great acclaim several times at Fishstock, and the group’s music features a range of tunes from the “Hot Swing” repertoire, originals, standards done in uniquely arranged styles and a level of guitar proficiency seldom seen on today’s concert circuit.
Caravan Gypsy Swing Ensemble is a world-traveling instrumental acoustic jazz group based in Madison, WI, said concert organizer Steve Ellmann. The ensemble is primarily influenced by the legendary Roma Gypsy Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, but also pulls influences from American jazz, European Folk Music, traditional Latin, Parisian waltz and other vintage Jazz sources. Ellmann said the audience can expect a range of tunes from the “Hot Swing” repertoire, some originals, and standards done in uniquely arranged styles, plus a level of guitar proficiency seldom seen today.
