Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (March 22, 2024) – Children First Development Center, Inc. (Children First) was awarded $10,000 through the Door County Community Foundation Sustainability Grant. The grant allows Children First to purchase necessary commercial kitchen equipment including a dishwasher/sanitizer, oven with electric range, range hood, freezer, and more.
“In addition to providing quality early childhood education programs, we also ensure the children receive a nutritious breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack while in our care. We cannot properly and successfully feed minds without proper nutrition and satisfied bellies,” stated Kayla Lehman, Administrator of Children First. “With 90% of brain development happening in the first five years of life, providing proper nutrition needs to be a fundamental part of the services we offer. In addition, we need to do everything we can to prevent the spread of illness through sanitization procedures. A commercial high-temperature sanitizing dishwasher allows us to do that efficiently.”
