Fish Creek, Wis. (January 20, 2025) – On Sunday, January 26, at 3 p.m., Cirque Kalabanté will bring the dynamic energy of an African circus to the DCA Main Stage.
Cirque Kalabanté presents “Afrique en Cirque,” a show created by Guinean multidisciplinary artist Yamoussa Bangoura. Inspired by daily life in Guinea and showcasing the beauty, youth and artistry of African culture, Cirque Kalabanté makes any theater vibrate with energy. Accompanied by contemporary Afro-Jazz played on djembe, kora, and other native instruments of Guinea, circus performers execute authentic choreography, gravity-defying acrobatics, and human pyramids. Cirque Kalabanté combines the diversity of traditional African arts with the virtuosity of a North American modern circus performance. Cirque Kalabanté performs their unique circus creations with the aim of offering humanitarian aid to Guinea.
Vice wrote, “Explosive drumming and dance routines, the group delivered mind-blowing acrobatic sequences with extraordinary precision.”
