Fish Creek, Wis. (October 12, 2026) – On Tuesday, October 20, at 1:30 p.m., Door County Auditorium (DCA) will host a student matinee performance of Curious George: The Golden Meatball.
This brand-new musical is all about Curious George, star of books, film, and television. Specifically designed for young audiences, this show tells the story of All You-Can-Eat Meatball Day, which happens only once a year. Curious George, determined to help his friend Chef Pisghetti, goes on a mission to enter the Chef’s meatballs in the world-famous Golden Meatball Contest in Rome. With every swing and flip, George and the audience learn about Rome, meatballs, and the secret ingredient to cooking.
Broadway World calls the show “delightful and engaging.”
Curious George: The Golden Meatball is part of DCA’s Passport Program, which presents unique cultural and educational experiences to Door County students as well as the general public. This year’s remaining Passport Program events include a concert by Grammy-nominated duo Black Violin on November 18; “Jazz at Lincoln Center Presents World on a String: Swinging Songs of Broadway” on February 16; and a multidisciplinary performance by Italian troupe NoGravity on April 4 (public show) and 5 (school show).
These events are made possible in part by Passport Program major sponsors Main Street Market and The Dörr Hotel; supporting sponsors The Cramer Family Fund and Wisconsin Public Radio; and partners The Alexander Family, Blacksmith Inn, Door County Eye Associates, Jessica and Jimmy Grasse, kindgoods, The Liberty Lodge at Sister Bay, Peninsula Pulse, Red Putter Mini-Golf, Sweetie Pies, Tom and Barbara Thurman, The White Gull Inn, and Wild Tomato.
Tickets for the student matinee performances are $6 for students and chaperones. And because of these sponsors’ support, DCA can offer free tickets to the public shows for Door County students and $10 tickets for accompanying family members. Sponsors are still needed. DCA is also seeking additional funding for its new programming at The Emerson Education Wing at The Cramer Exchange. Contact support@dcaudiotorium.org for further information regarding these giving opportunities.
