Fish Creek, Wis. (March 13, 2023) – On Friday, March 24, at 7 p.m., Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present a free event: Circle of Drums with Jahmes Finlayson.
The Circle of Drums—which is different from a drum circle in that it is more intentional and led by a professional facilitator—will be presented free to the public. Anyone is welcome to participate. Participants are encouraged to bring a drum if they have one. Extra drums will also be available. Donations are encouraged.
Circle of Drums facilitator Jahmes Finlayson is a performing artist, teacher, workshop facilitator and Reiki practitioner with more than 30 years of experience. He is a well-known performer and community activist who may be seen playing with several southeastern Wisconsin music ensembles, Kirtan bands, and Afro-Latin dance ensembles. His healing work includes TheRhythMassage, Reiki Plus, and vibrational healing. Finlayson has a B.A. in graphic design and photography from Yale.
Earlier in the day, Finlayson will lead Gibraltar elementary music students in a drum circle as part of DCA’s Passport Program. These afternoon and evening events are aimed at reminding folks of the joy of making noise together, while also preparing the Door County community for DCA’s March 29 concerts by Japanese drum ensemble Yamato.
DCA’s 2023 Winter Series is sponsored by Bacon CPA and Bob Ross Estate Planning. DCA is located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m, and can also be reached on the phone at (920) 868-2728 or online at dcauditorium.org.
