Fish Creek, Wis. (February 6, 2022) – On Saturday, February 11, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will host two winter events: a 10 a.m. “Door County Talks” presentation by Michael Brecke about religious practice and community, and an evening concert by John Lewis and Friends on the DCA Main Stage.
Door County Talks: Michael Brecke Presents “Religion and Religious Practice as Community Glue”
Michael Brecke is a well-known clergyperson in Door County, having served churches in Georgia, Kansas, and right here on the peninsula. At 10 a.m. in the DCA lobby, He will deliver a talk entitled “Religion and Religious Practice as Community Glue.” Over the years, in addition to his work in various churches, Brecke has written for newspapers and several local and regional publications.
Door County Talks are free, but freewill donations are encouraged. Refreshments will be available from Ellison Bay’s Kick Ash Coffee.
Main Stage: John Lewis & Friends
At 7 p.m., John Lewis and Friends will present a concert of all-original music on DCA’s Main Stage. John Lewis has been working as a full-time performing musician/guitarist/bassist/composer for decades, based out of Des Moines, Miami, Chicago and (since 2017) Door County. In 2017, John’s work as a player of guitar and other stringed instruments has brought him to such iconic venues as The Cavern Club (Liverpool), Paradiso (Amsterdam), Shepherd’s Bush Empire (London), NBC Studios (Rockefeller Plaza, NY), the Palace Theater (Hollywood, CA), and the Oprah Show. He’s also written, published and recorded instrumental music and, more recently, an album of original songwriting entitled Graffiti.
Joining Lewis on stage will be Kris Lewis (background vocals), Hans Christian (bass and cello), Adam Cain (drums), Dennis Keith Johnson (bass), Paul Taylor (drums, guitar and dobro), Terry Murphy (voice, guitar, mandolin), and Solomon Lindenberg (piano and organ).
Concert tickets cost $17.50. Advance reservations are recommended.
