Fish Creek, Wis. (July 15, 2024) – On Wednesday, July 24, Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present American Southern soul-rock band JJ Grey & Mofro.
From his early days playing cover music behind chicken wire at a west side Jacksonville juke joint while still working at a lumberyard, to playing sold-out shows at some of the largest venues and music festivals in the world, JJ Grey has always delivered soul-honest truths. Since his first album, Blackwater, back in 2001, Grey and his band, Mofro, have been releasing masterful, funkified rock, and front-porch Southern soul.
Tahoe Onstage called JJ Grey & Mofro “medicine for your soul…like Buddha onstage with a microphone.”
Singing in a gritty baritone dripping with honest passion and testifying with a preacher’s foot-pounding fervor, JJ Grey makes music with the eyes of a poet and a sense of pure, unvarnished soul. Now, with Olustee – his tenth album and first in eight years, and the first he has self-produced – Grey is back, singing his personal stories with universal themes of redemption, rebirth, hard luck, and inner peace.
JJ Grey & Mofro’s performance is made possible with support from presenting sponsors Lori and David Nicholas; major sponsors the Mike and Jill Hayford Charitable Foundation and Nathan Nichols & Company; and supporting sponsor Peninsula Pulse.
The show begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24. Tickets range from $48-78. Advance tickets are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
