DCA Presents Katie Dahl Coffeehouse Concert; Morning Lecture by Michael Brecke

January 19, 2026 by Laurel Ciohon

Fish Creek, Wis. (January 19, 2026) – Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will continue its 2026 winter season on Saturday, January 31 with two events: a 10 a.m. “Door County Talks” lecture about sense of purpose by Reverend Michael Brecke; and an evening Coffeehouse Concert by acclaimed songwriter Katie Dahl at 7 p.m. Gibraltar student Wyatt Bultman will play an opening set before the evening performance.

Door County Talks: Sense of Purpose with Michael Brecke

Michael Brecke’s 10 a.m. lecture will be the second 2026 installment of DCA’s annual “Door County Talks” series. The entire 2026 series, which is sponsored by Cynthia and Tom LaConte, explores the concept of “blue zones,” a term referring to regions in the world where people live to or beyond age 100 with few of the degenerative aging diseases prevalent in many parts of the world. Attendees are encouraged but not required to watch the Netflix series, Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones, before attending the events.

Michael Brecke is a pastor who has served churches in Georgia, Kansas, and right here in Door County. He has also written for newspapers and a variety of local and regional publications. At DCA his talk will focus on a sense of purpose as it relates to blue zones.

All Door County Talks begin at 10:00 a.m. Lectures are free to the public; freewill donations are encouraged. Coffee and blue zone-friendly bakery will be available for purchase. Each talk will include a short break, a post-talk question-and-answer session with the speaker, and a chance to meet and reconnect with the year-round Door County friends and neighbors.

Coffeehouse Concert: Katie Dahl

At 7 p.m., Katie Dahl will perform the second Coffeehouse Concert of this season. These concerts show off the cozy intimacy of the DCA lobby and feature some of the best musical talent Door County has to offer.

Katie Dahl is a nationally touring songwriter and playwright known for her onstage humor, deep vulnerability, and “hearty, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). Though she makes her year-round home in Door County, she tours and garners acclaim internationally, including a 2025 win at the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Competition.

As part of this year’s Coffeehouse Concert series, each show will feature a Door County student opening act. On January 24, Gibraltar student Wyatt Bultman (who has been watching Dahl perform since he was young) will perform.

All Coffeehouse Concerts take place at 7:00 p.m. in the DCA Fireside lobby. Tickets are $20 each and advance reservations are strongly suggested. Coffee and bakery will be available for purchase from Happy Coffee, also the sponsor of the Coffeehouse series.

DCA is located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
