Fish Creek, Wis. (November 6, 2023) – On Saturday, November 10, at 7 p.m., Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will present Bizhiki, a multidimensional music performance that brings Ojibwe traditional and powwow music into an expanded musical palette. And on Sunday, November 11, Wisconsin comedian Charlie Berens will deliver two sold-out performances at DCA.
Bizhiki is based around the ethereal vocals and visceral drumming of Dylan Bizhikiins Jennings (Bad River Ojibwe) and Joe Rainey Sr. (Red Lake Ojibwe), surrounded by a contemporary soundscape created by multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer S. Carey. Expanding upon the collaborative energy of the Eaux Claires Music Festival, where Bizhiki first took shape, the performance is multifaceted and engrossing. Connecting the songs is a lyrical narrative in which Jennings and Rainey share pieces of the Anishinaabe experience around identity, loss, and revitalization, grounded within a visual landscape created by filmmaker Finn Ryan.

On Friday, November 3, Bizhiki will also perform a student matinee performance for Door County students as part of DCA’s Passport Program. Tickets for Charlie Berens are sold out. Tickets for Bizhiki range from $25 to $35, or $10 for all students 18 and under. Advance tickets are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek.
