Door County, Wis. (March 28, 2024) – Death’s Door Dance Festival has announced that it is returning for the 2024 summer season with legendary festival alumni and a generous handful of notable newcomers. The 3rd Annual Festival will take place from July 26th to 28th.
Friday night kicks off with a Pop-up at Hidden Acres. Set beside the community garden on the charming Door County farm, the event will be a spectacular evening of choreography and collaboration. Saturday, the festival performances continue at the Sister Bay Beach Pavilion with a second lineup of choreographers sharing a variety of dance styles with the public. From classical ballet to flamenco, this will be an evening of dynamic and diverse dance offerings. In addition to performances, there are also classes and workshops spanning the peninsula.
The free public dance event is in its third year, hailed as one of the “Top 5 Dance Events for July 2023” by Chicago’s Newcity Stage.

The Pop-up performance will include a very special collaboration between photographer Meredith W. Watts and choreographer Simone Ferro- recognizing ourselves in others. This collaboration is an original work inspired by the spiritual practices of Northeastern Brazil. This event will include an exhibit of photography by Watts.

Honoring intuition/contact improvisation, led by Colleen Thomas w/Adriane Fang. Saturday July 27th at 1:30pm, Sister Bay Village Hall. This is a workshop in exploration- the exploration of weight, sensation, individuality, and collaboration. Utilizing improvisation, while working with an underlying line and grounded technique, with contact partnering, we will sense what stirs our bodies as we explore individual and group partnering. honoring intuition is available to all ages and abilities.
Coffee & Conversation: Gender in Performance: A KIKI with April Sellers Dance Collective. Sunday, July 28th at 10:30, Björklunden. Minneapolis artist April Sellers Dance Collective will guide a community reflection and dialogue centering on the evolutions of gender in dance and performance. Coffee & Conversation welcomes artists, allies, and advocates.
