DIY... Door County Style
By Laurel Ciohon
Even on vacation, some people have to stay practically busy with a project, and that's where DIY (do-it-yourself) art studios come in. Two new studios have recently opened in Ephraim – but they’re as different as night and day. Clink!, located at 10331 North Water Street (Hwy 42), is a DIY craft studio that offers a variety of wood, leather, jewelry, and home decor projects. Reclaimed Resale & Workshop, located at 10451 Townline Drive (corner of Hwy 42), is both a consignment/resale store and a wood sign workshop that focuses on stencils. Both places offer a fun experience while making a custom, handmade piece that you can take home the same day.
Making a custom project at Clink! is fun and easy, and the proprietors offer snacks, wine and beer. Owners Mike and Courtney invite you to come on in – no reservations necessary, although they do accept them – and choose a project from the display. All projects are self-paced and they have all the tools, materials, and instructions ready to go for you. Choose from items such as a leather passport cover, a painted rustic wood tray, an industrial pipe wine rack, a metal stamped washer bracelet, and more. You're encouraged to pull up a seat at one of the many tables, pour yourself a beverage, socialize with the other 'creatives,' and get busy.
Reclaimed has the same cozy, modern feel of Clink! but with a different twist. Browse their upscale consignment shop on one side of the store, then wander over to the workshop on the other side to pick out a custom wood stenciling project. Their workshop offers all the materials you need to make a handmade sign, as well as a custom stencil of your choice. Owners Tena, Jeff, and Collin help guide you through your project, giving even the most unskilled artists something nice they can proudly take home. Choose from signs, clocks, trays, centerpieces, totes, and more. Gather with friends, tap in to your creative side, and you'll make memories at Reclaimed.
