Fish Creek, Wis. (July 15, 2022) – On Sunday, July 24 at 8 p.m., Doc Heide and more than a dozen special guests will take the stage at Door Community Auditorium (DCA) for a one-of-a-kind celebration called Doc’s Birthday Bash.
Doc Heide, beloved local performer and co-founder of Northern Sky Theater, writes powerful songs that made him a Kerrville New Folk Finalist and have led critics to compare his writing to Bob Dylan and Warren Zevon. Come help celebrate his 70th birthday with this once-in-a-lifetime concert of his songs sung by talented friends from around the nation. Featured artists include Lee Becker, Amy Chaffee, Deb Fett, Laurie Flanigan-Hegge, Lachrisa Grandberry, Jeff Herbst, Jimmy Kaplan, Dan Klarer, Steve Koehler, Craig Konowalski, Eric Lewis, Karen Mal, Tim McNurlen, Paul Sowinski, James Valcq, Matt Zembrowski, and other special guests.
Erik Eriksson of the Door County Advocate called Doc Heide’s work “arrestingly beautiful. These songs . . . take up permanent residence in one’s mind and heart.”
The July concert, in the style of Heide’s sold-out DCA event in 2013, will also be a release party for Tangled in Wonder, a book of over 50 of Heide’s songs, including lyrics, chords, and personal reflections. There will also be a free cupcake for everyone at the concert.
The show begins at 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 24. Tickets cost $35. Visit the DCA website for more information about current Covid protocols. Advance tickets are recommended and can be made through the DCA box office, located at 3926 Highway 42 in Fish Creek. The box office is open Monday-Friday, 12-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person, on the phone at (920) 868-2728, or online at www.dcauditorium.org.
