This series of virtual concerts and workshops features artists with deep Door County roots.
Door Community Auditorium (DCA) is pleased to announce that its Spring Coffeehouse Series successfully premiered on DCA’s Facebook Page on April 8, 2021. The premiere featured a virtual performance co-headlined by Door County artists Katie Dahl and Genevieve Heyward.
The Spring Coffeehouse Series will feature seven virtual concerts from now through early summer, presenting twelve acts with deep Door County roots. The series will also include additional offerings from these artists, including songwriting workshops, artist question-and-answer sessions, a brief introduction to the Menominee language, and a demonstration of how to make a washtub bass.
On April 22, Jeanne Kuhns and George Sawyn take to the virtual stage to perform an Earth Day concert, treating us to original numbers and old favorites. On May 6, Terry Murphy and John Lewis co-bill a show with blues artist Cathy Grier + The Troublemakers. On May 20, Grammy- and Emmy-nominated musician Paul Taylor and Door County/Memphis musician Eric Lewis come together to share music influenced by their Memphis roots. Door County group Murmurations will be joined by Todd Carey on June 3 for a virtual concert packed with jazz, electronic, and feel-good music. On June 10, Phil Passen presents “Hammered Dulcimer and History” on the anniversary of Wisconsin and Michigan becoming the first states to ratify the 19th amendment. Finally, on June 24, the series closes with a Blessing of the Season by Wade Fernandez.
The Spring Coffeehouse Series concerts and activities are free to the public, but donations and direct support to the artists are encouraged. Viewers can make an online donation via DCA by using the direct link listed on each video concert, or support the artists directly using the links to their websites and social media available in the description box of the video concert.
