Sturgeon Bay, Wis. (October 28, 2022) – The Door County Historical Society announced Amy Frank has been named Executive Director of the organization.

For nearly four years, Frank served as the Managing Director at Third Avenue PlayWorks. She managed the Sun Prairie Performing Arts Center for seven years prior. She has over 15 years of leadership experience in nonprofit organizations.

“We are so pleased to hire Amy Frank as our new Executive Director,” said Jay Zahn, DCHS Board President. “We had a number of excellent candidates and Amy was our top choice. We look forward to her leadership, as we approach our 100th anniversary celebration.”

Founded in 1926, the Door County Historical Society keeps history alive for future generations through the collection, preservation and sharing of Door County’s rich history and heritage. As executive director, Frank will implement the strategic goals and objectives of the Door County Historical Society, support the 15-member Board of Directors in its governance function, and provide direction and leadership toward achievement of the organization’s mission, through community and public relations, programming, fundraising, and outreach.

Frank will also oversee the operations of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park and the 9 historic buildings that comprise Heritage Village at Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay.

“I am honored to join the Door County Historical Society,” Frank said. “For the past 96 years, countless people – mostly volunteers – have admirably built a strong organization with a solid foundation of preserving Door County’s history and sharing it with others. That challenge continues, and I will  use the skills and knowledge I gained in my previous positions to continue and advance the work of the Door County Historical Society.”

Frank began her new position in late September. The Door County Historical Society was most recently led by Bailey Koepsel, from 2018-2022 and Trudy Herbst, from 2015-2019. Prior to 2015, the organization was volunteer-driven.
