Door County, Wis. (May 4, 2026) — The Door County Historical Society invites the community to its May Dine & Discover program on Monday, May 18, featuring a fascinating look at one of Sturgeon Bay’s longest-standing family businesses.
Local expert George Draeb of Draeb Jewelers will present “116 Years of Draeb Jewelers,” tracing the company’s history from its founding by George A. Draeb in 1910 to the present day. A lifelong resident of Sturgeon Bay, Draeb has dedicated 52 years to the family business and brings a wealth of knowledge and personal insight to this engaging program.
Attendees will learn about the growth and evolution of the business on North Third Avenue, as well as the traditions and craftsmanship that have sustained it for more than a century. Draeb is a certified Master Watchmaker and an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouts BSA, reflecting a lifetime commitment to precision, service, and community.
The program will be held at the Door Country Event Center, located three miles south of Sturgeon Bay at Schmitz Insurance.
The evening includes a buffet dinner catered by Marchant’s of Brussels, featuring ham, meatballs, green bean casserole, potato salad, German potato salad, brownies, lemonade, coffee, and water.
Dine & Discover programs offer a unique opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while connecting with Door County’s rich history through engaging presentations by local experts.
